As the month comes to a close I thought i would share some recommendations and further reading on this month's theme of Rochford hundred. In this beautiful weather we have been having I went and explored Leigh on Sea by using their Heritage Trail, learning all about its history and heritage. On this day 805 years ago in 1217 the Lincoln Fair occurred. Not your usual fair but in fact a battle fought against the French and William Marshall of England. Let's not forget Nicola de la have which you can.find out more about here https://fortheloveofhistoryhome.wordpress.com/2022/03/15/the-cunning-old-woman-and-the-castle/ image copyright ©️ @sharonbennettconnolly, permission granted. This month i have been chatting to Chris Langdon, Is there something interesting about your #localhistory? Maybe a link to some historical event of person or just something that happened that you want to share. What about a #localmuseum or #historygroup? Then I would love to hear from you. Drop me a DM for more info. Do you know what the Rochford 100 is? Find out what a hundred was and how it relates to my local history in this months post - Queens, Battles and War. May is local history month here in the UK. I am using this to re introduce the new focus of my blog - local history. Going forward For the love of History will be about Sites that are Local and their history. For me this will be mostly Essex, however as Local history is due to location other places will be featured in guests posts and from my travels. I will be looking at Heritage at risk and the role that heritage sites play in keeping history alive. And finally as always the main focus is to write about my LOVE of history. Local, Location and Love. Top 4 historical TV drama - The Great, sharpe, the Last kingdom, and The Queens Gambit Top 4 fiction - the last kingdom series, Jamaica inn, treasure island, Shardlake series
