10th April – White Star Line ship RMS Titanic set off from Southampton on her maiden voyage
13th – The formation of the Royal Air Corp which would eventually becomes the RAF
15th April – after hitting an iceberg in the early hours, RMS Titanic sinks to the bottom of the Atlantic ocean. Only 706 of the 2,240 people on board survived.
